Finally, RACE DAY. everyone is so pumped up. There were 4 groups only competing with each another. The groups were my group( Joon Keet ), Kwok Wing's Group, the innovative Form 1 Group who planned to use water in the first place, and Azriel's Group. Things were heating up until it started to get windy. The race was held at tapak perhimpunan. Even though it was windy, things went well. It was a 'tight' race. Three rounds were held at the cement floor where else another two were held on the stage(tiles). The victorious team was the form 1 team. Hooray n congrats to them!!!!! Our future scientists.

Raceday Videos
Let's take a look at the contenders for the title of "Fastest Balloon Car"!
And this was the winner for the day. This car was created by the group Apple 1. Maybe someday they'll be making racecars for F1, huh?
This is another car, less successful, but still works all the same. And, with the coloured decorations at the side, it's probably the only one with extra design.
Wow. Take a look at the incredible distance traveled by these cars. Ah well, at least they tried...
And here we have the video of the winning group for the "fastest car" category. Watch the video and see if you can tell who's the winner. Just a lucky guess.

Below are the results for distance traveled by the individual cars.
Though the results were rather underwhelming, each of the members put in a lot of effort to make their cars. And, at least, they learnt the value of learning from failure. Science and Maths Society, we salute you!

Preparation for Race Day!
This week we are making cars out of recyclable materials such as used bottle caps and so on. The members are divided into 5-6 groups. They are expected to complete their cars, which are powered by balloons, by race day which is next week. Some groups looks promising to succeed, however some groups are just playing around. Which ever way, I'm sure they all had some fun at the end of the day. A group even tried to do something extraordinary. Instead of using air as people would, they are trying a method which uses water to propel their car forward. Pictures and 2 videos is provided below:
Although the liquid propellant used in the above video was water instead of air, it still moved remarkably fast. Hmm...an idea for another science project perhaps?
The car in the above video did some impressive drifting but moved only about 45 cm. Hope they can do better on race day!

Coke & Mentos!
Today we experimented with Coke and Mentos. It turns out that we need Diet Coke a.k.a. Coca-Cola Light and it needs to be warm. Well, the experiment was a little disappointing as the "geyser" did not fly up as high as was shown in the videos. But it's a learning experience and we hope to do better next year. Pictures and videos taken are below:
